Remarkable diplomatic activities in late May

VGP – FM Spokesman Le Hai Binh announced upcoming remarkable diplomatic activities at a press conference on May 21.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung will attend an official signing ceremony of the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (VN-EEU FTA) in Kazakhstan and pay official visits to Algeria, Portugal and Bulgaria from May 28- June 6 at the invitation of his Kazakhstan, Algerian, Portuguese and Bulgarian counterparts - Karim Massimov, Abdelmalek Sellal, Pedro Passos Coelho and Boyko Metodiev Borisov, respectively.

The signing of the VN-EEU FTA aims to create an open and sustainable legal framework to enhance economic cooperation between Viet Nam and member countries of the EEU.

The PM’s participation in the event also looks to strengthen bilateral cooperation and launch the Agreement between Viet Nam and these nations.

During the upcoming official visits to Algeria, Portugal and Bulgaria, the PM will exchange the socio-economic situations, experience in sustainable development, international economic connection and measures to cope with the world’s economic challenges with the heads of these nations.

PM Dung’s visits aim to discuss fresh cooperative frameworks, attract these nations’ businesses to invest in Viet Nam as well as exchange measures to promote the bilateral cooperation between Viet Nam and these countries.  

These visits also show Viet Nam’s comprehensive cooperative policy with Europe and Africa.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh will pay a working visit to Thailand from May 24-26 at the invitation of Thai Deputy PM, FM Thanasak Patimapragorn.

The Deputy PM’s visit to Thailand is aimed at preparing for the joint cabinet meeting between the two nations, accelerating cooperation in large projects as well as enhancing the two countries’ cooperation at international and regional forums.  

He will co-chair the 8th meeting of Viet Nam-Myanmar Joint Committee on economics, culture, trade, science and technology in Myanmar from May 27-29.
