Prospects of Vietnamese goods in Australian market

VGP – Two-way trade turnover between Viet Nam and Australia hit nearly US$ 5.9 billion in the first 11 months, reported the General Department of Viet Nam Customs.

Viet Nam pocketed over US$ 2.96 billion in export turnover with Australia, representing a year-on-year surge of 13%. Viet Nam’s import turnover reached over US$ 2.92 billion, up 32% against 2016.

Out of 33 Vietnamese key export commodities to Australia, telephones and spare parts took the lead with US$ 582.49 million, accounting for 20% of the total  turnover, up 7% against the same period last year. Computers and spare parts took the second with US$ 355.38 million; followed by crude oil of US$ 220.32 million. 

In January-November, almost all Vietnamese exports to Australia increased especially cameras and spare parts (up 283%); steel products (up 161%); transport and spare parts (up 86%). 

So far, Viet Nam was the fourth largest aquatic product provider for Australia after Thailand, New Zealand, and China by occupying approximately 11% of the market share. Viet Nam was the largest exporter of shrimp to Australia with over 35% of the market share./.
