Prime Minister begins to attend G20 Summit
VGP – The Group of 20 (G20) Summit 2019 opened in Osaka, Japan on the morning of June 28 (Vietnamese time) with the participation of heads of state and leaders of 20 leading developed and emerging economies in the world.

There will be two discussion sessions today featuring the topics of global economy, trade and investment, and innovation and creation. Tomorrow (June 29), delegates will discuss issues related to sustainable development, climate change and energy. The summit also feature discussion sessions on the digital economy and women, among others.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to attend all the activities within the framework of the summit of the G20 which accounts for two-thirds of the world’s population and 90% of global GDP. On the sidelines of the conference, the Vietnamese leader will have bilateral meetings with some participating leaders.
Gathering leaders of leading economies and important international economic institutions, the G20 Summit will discuss a series of urgent issues which are strongly affecting countries, aiming to work out solutions to prosperous and sustainable development.
This is the fourth time Viet Nam has participated in the G20 Summit as an honorary invitee of the host country. In the previous conferences, Viet Nam was actively engaged in and made responsible contributions, proposing and promoting some issues of concern among developing nations, particularly ASEAN member states.
Many ideas raised by Viet Nam were recognized by G20 in joint statements, including upholding international cooperation in dealing with global economic issues, inclusive and sustainable development, agriculture and water security, and employment in the digital economy. These efforts have worked to improve Viet Nam’s position as a reliable and responsible partner of the international community.
