President welcomes new ambassadors
 
President Tran Dai Quang hosted the newly-accredited ambassadors from Australia, Belarus, Sweden, Cambodia, and Singapore who presented their credentials to him in Ha Noi.
 
The new ambassadors expressed their confidence to fulfill their missions, contributing to expanding friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam.
 
PM stresses promoting ASEAN’s self-reliance at Summit
 
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has underscored the need to enhance ASEAN’s capacity and self-reliance as well as uphold the bloc’s central role, considering them crucial to ASEAN’s success.

In a speech delivered to the plenary session of the 28th ASEAN Summit that opened in Vientiane, Laos, the PM urged the ASEAN member states to strengthen consultations and raise a common voice on regional issues directly impacting regional security and development as well as orientations to relationship with partners and the regional architecture.
 
He asked for identifying priorities to the implementation of the ASEAN Vision 2025 and action plans for each pillar.
 
PM Phuc meets French President in Ha Noi
 
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with visiting French President Francois Hollande in Ha Noi, during which he stated that the Vietnamese Government will continue its efforts to foster partnership with France in all fields and make the ties deeper and more effective.
 
Expressing his delight at the growth of the Viet Nam-France strategic partnership over the past years, the PM proposed that both sides focus on boosting cooperation in areas of France’s strengths including infrastructure building, advanced technology, energy, aerospace, health care and pharmaceuticals.
 
On his part, President Francois Hollande affirmed that France is keen on further beef up cooperation with Viet Nam in all fields, especially in politics, economy, trade, investment as well as climate change and sea level rise response.
 
50% of commune to meet new-style rural criteria by 2020
 
The PM has issued a plan to implement the emulation movement “The entire nation jointly builds new-style rural areas” in the 2016-2020 period, striving to have 50% of communes nationwide meeting all 19 criteria for new-style rural areas by 2020.
 
The objective of the plan is to promote the strength of the entire political system in raising awareness and directly participating in the successful realization of the Party and State’s guideline to build new-style rural areas.
 
In addition, it also aims to organize a practical and effective emulation movement, targeting to have 50% of communes as new-style rural communes, the remaining 50% meeting five criteria onwards, and at least one new-style rural district in one province, contributing to improving considerably the spiritual and material lives of rural people. 
 
World cultural festival 2017 to be held in HCM City
 
A world cultural festival 2017 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City as part of cooperation with the Republic of Korea’s (ROK) North Gyeongsang province.
 
The World Cultural Festival 2017 is expected to promote the culture, land and people of Viet Nam and attract more the Republic of Korea and international tourists to the South-East Asian country.
 
The festival is scheduled to take place on the occasion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation 2017 (APEC).
 
5th Asian Beach Games to take place in Da Nang
 
Nearly 45 countries have registered to participate in the 5th Asian Beach Games from September 24 - October 3 in the central city of Da Nang.
 
Viet Nam security forces are  beefing up security for the main venues for the event, which are The East Sea Park, My Khe Beach, Phuong Trang Urban Beach and the Son Thuy Seaside Resort.
 
Initiated by the Olympic Council of Asia, the first Asian Beach Games took place in 2008 in Indonesia's Bali City and have been held every two years since.
 
Malindo Air opens direct flight to Ha Noi
 
Malaysia's Malindo Air officially launched a direct route connecting Ha Noi and Kuala Lumpur with flight OD572, meeting high travel demand from the two countries.
 
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Malaysian Ambassador to Viet Nam Zamruni Khalid said frequent flight connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Viet Nam is expected to boost tourism and strengthen ties between the two countries.
 
Japan provides JPY11 billion loan for VN
 
The Japanese Government will provide the Vietnamese Government with an JPY11 billionloanin the 2016 fiscal year to help improve socio-economic infrastructure and the competitiveness of the national economy.
 
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Van Trunghailed Japan as Viet Nam’s biggest bilateral ODA supplier, pledging that the ODA will be used effectively, contributing to further deepening the bilateral economic strategic partnership. 
 
Based on the diplomatic note, the Vietnamese Finance Ministry and the Japan International Cooperation Agency will sign a specific lending agreement in the future.
