PM receives Chinese Minister of Public Security

The Government of Viet Nam will create favorable conditions for the Ministries of Public Security to further cooperate, contributing to enhancing the two countries' Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc at his reception for Chinese Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun on September 26 in Ha Noi.

The PM asked for enhancing periodical meetings between police officials from the central to local levels to address arising issues on border areas as well as promoting information and experience exchanges to combat crimes, including high-tech crimes and criminals using human rights to destroy internal security.

Regarding the sea issues, the PM supposed that the two sides should settle the matters in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect, strictly following the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and working towards the building of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) to make the East Sea a region of peace, friendship and freedom of navigation and aviation.

VN, Indonesia cooperate in trans-national crimes prevention

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Indonesian National Police strengthen cooperation, share information and closely cooperate in trans-national crimes and anti-terrorism prevention and control in effort to deepen Viet Nam-Indonesian Strategic Partnership at his reception for Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police Syafruddin on September 26.

Viet Nam highly valued the role of Indonesia in the ASEAN Community, welcoming Indonesia to make active contribution to the regional security structure, ensuring peace, sustainable development and prosperity of ASEAN and the world, he stressed.

Mr. Syafruddin expressed his hope that the cooperation between the two sides in security will be further strengthened for local people to live in a safe environment and facilitate other economic sectors to develop.  

NA Chairwoman meets Lao Party General Secretary

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with Party General Secretary and President of Laos Bounnhang Volachith on September 26 as part of her official visit to the neighboring country.

Viet Nam always gives the top priority to consolidating and enhancing the relationship, she affirmed, adding that the two countries are joining hands in organising activities marking the 55th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties and 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in 2017. 

Accordingly, they will increase the exchange of information and experience in legislative activities as well as the supervision and decision making on the country’s important issues, she said, calling for the Lao leader’s further support for the bilateral legislative ties. 

Decrees on VN’s preferential import tariff in launching three Agreements

The Government continues to issue three Decrees on Viet Nam’s preferential import tariff to realize three Agreements signed with other countries.

Three Decrees include Decree No.131/2016/NĐ-CP on defining Viet Nam’s preferential import tariff in implementing the Viet Nam-Republic of Korea Free Trade Agreement in the 2016-2018 period, Decree No. 132/2016/NĐ-CP on defining Viet Nam’s preferential import tariff in accordance with the Viet Nam-Chile Free Trade Agreement in 2016-2018 phase and Decree No.133/2016/NĐ-CP on defining Viet Nam’s preferential import tariff in launching Viet Nam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in the 2016-2019 period.

CPI in September up 0.54%

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the first nine months of 2016 rose 2.07% compared to the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

In September, 10 out of 11 commodities witnessed increases in prices. The education group took the  lead with a 7.19% rise in price, followed by transport up 0.55%, culture, entertainment and tourism up 0.18%, garment, hats and footwear up 0.14%, equipments and household commodity up 0.11%, restaurants and food services up 0.09%, housing and building material up 0.09%, other commodities and services up 0.05%, beverage and tobacco up 0.04% and medicine and health service up 0.02%.

FDI attraction hits over US$16 bln in nine months

Viet Nam attracted US$16.43 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) as of September 20, equivalent to 95.8% of the amount reported in the same period last year.

Of the total, US$11.17 billion came from 1,820 new projects, and the remaining US$5.26 billion from investment added to 851 existing projects.
In the period, FDI disbursement surged 12.4% year on year to an estimated US$11.02 billion.

Bac Giang IPs welcome 34 projects in nine months

The Management Board of Industrial Parks (IPs) in the northern province of Bac Giang granted investment licenses to 34 projects with a total registered capital of more than US$465.6 million in the first nine months of this year.
The figure raised the total valid projects in the province’s IPs to 265, worth US$2.98 billion in total.
