Party General Secretary welcomes Lao Party officials

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hosted a reception for a delegation from the Commission for External Relations of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) in Ha Noi.

Head of the LPRP Commission for External Relations Sunthon Sayachak briefed the host of the talks between the two Party Commissions for External Relations, saying the two commissions will work closely with other Party and State agencies to actualise efficiently Party and State agreements for deepened relations.

​Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong praised the two Party Commissions for External Relations for working actively to step up Viet Nam-Laos special solidarity.

He said he hopes the agencies will coordinate tightly in both bilateral and multilateral issues, increase the sharing of information and experience, and boost the monitoring of the implementation of high-level agreements between the two Parties and countries.

VN, Comoros set up diplomatic ties

Viet Nam and the Comoros set up their diplomatic ties in New York, the US.

A joint communiqué to this effect was signed at the headquarters of Viet Nam’s Permanent Mission to the UN in the witness of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to exchange diplomatic representatives at the Ambassadorial level and apply the 1961 Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations.

The establishment of diplomatic relationship with the Comoros has brought the number of countries that Vietnam has had official relations with so far to 186.

VN climbs 19 places in innovation index 

Viet Nam is ranked 52th out of 141 countries in this year’s Global Innovation Index (GII), up 19 places from last year.

In Southeast Asia, the country is in third place behind only Singapore and Malaysia thanks to the considerable investment in science and technology development over the past year. 

GII, annually co-published by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), US-based Cornell University, France-based INSEAD business school, surveys 141 economies worldwide, using 79 indicators to gauge both innovative capabilities and measurable results. 

VN Airlines receives second Airbus A350-XWB 

Viet Nam Airlines has become the second airline in the world to operate the all-new A350 XWB.

The A350 XWB features the latest aerodynamic design, carbon fibre fuselage and wings, plus new fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

Viet Nam Airlines, in an effort to modernise its fleet, has announced its plans of buying 33 new planes, including 14 Airbus A350s, to be delivered between now and 2019.

Vietnamese Goods Week 2015 to be held 

“Vietnamese Goods Week 2015” week will take place in Ha Noi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City from September 27-October 4.

The plan targeted that 90% of Vietnamese consumers and businesses should know about the campaign by 2015 and 70% of Vietnamese goods could be competitive in rural and remote areas by 2020

Ha Noi to welcome Belgian beer fest 

Beer lovers in the capital city will have the chance to savour nearly 50 different Belgian draft beers and a variety of traditional cuisines at a Belgian beer festival scheduled to take place in Ha Noi.

Additionally, festival goers may get a change to win a round-trip ticket to Belgium when drawing lots for a bonus.

This year’s event is expected to lure more than 2,000 visitors. The first festival was also held in Ho Chi Minh City in April last year.

Cambodia, Laos, VN hold talks on trade 

Cambodia, Laos and Viet Nam held the third round of talks on an agreement on trade promotion and facilitation in the Development Triangle between the three countries in the Lao province of Champasa.

The creation of the agreement looks to realise the 8th joint statement on cooperation in the Development Triangle held in Vientiane capital of Laos at the end of 2014 with a view to promoting trade activities among the three countries’ provinces located in the triangle. 

In this round of talks, delegates discussed and gave opinions on the draft of the agreement, especially issues relating to agriculture, forestry, transportation and security. 

Farm Expo 2015 to take place in HCM City 

Many different kinds of farm produce will be showcased at Viet Nam Farm Expo 2015 slated for October 1-5 at Tan Binh Exhibition and Convention Centre (TBECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

Agricultural machinery and equipment, agricultural products and services, livestock breeding, industrial chemicals and bonsai are on display.

The expo aims to help agriculture enterprises and farmers approach the best products and services, while acting as a bridge for local exporters to cooperate with foreign importers, and promote the application of science and technology in agriculture production.

Last year, the event of its kind attracted 5,000 local and foreign enterprises, importers and distributors in the agricultural sector.
