NA Standing Committee concludes third session

The 14th National Assembly Standing Committee closed its 3rd session on September 22 in Ha Noi.

The committee discussed 10 draft laws and one draft resolution that will be submitted to the 14 th NA at its second session, including the law on water resources, the law on railway, the law on technology transfer, the law on foreign trade management, and the law on management and use of State assets, among others.

In her speech, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi KimNgan said the deputies have finalized their set agenda including preparations for the second session of the 14th NA set to take place on October 22. 

VN’s Diplomatic Bluebook 2015 launched

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a ceremony in Ha Noi on September 22 to launch Viet Nam’s Diplomatic Bluebook 2015 which highlights the country’s foreign policies and outstanding achievements of the diplomatic sector last year.

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said that the book, the first of its kind in Viet Nam, also reviews Vietnam’s external affairs in the past five years, while spotlighting new points of the external guidelines approved at the 12th National Party Congress.

VN calls for more contributions to peace and cooperation in East Sea

Viet Nam's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Hai Binh responded to reporters’ queries on recent developments in the East Sea at a September 22 regular press briefing in Ha Noi.

Regarding the questions concerning the Japanese Defense Minister’s statement on increasing Japan’s joint patrols with the US in the East Sea and Russia-China joint exercises in the East Sea, Binh said Viet Nam hopes that all countries would contribute to peace, stability, ensuring security and safety of navigation and aviation in the East Sea as well as in the Asia-Pacific region”.

In response to Taiwan (China)’s building of some facilities on the Ba Binh island of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and the fact that these facilities are said to serve military purposes, the spokesperson said,“Viet Nam’s relevant agencies are verifying this information. But we affirm that Vietnam has several times reiterated its sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, so Taiwan’s occupation and implementation of activities in this region are completely illegal and violate Vietnam’s sovereignty. 

Responding to a German reporter’s question on the TPP agreement, Binh said Viet Nam placed high priority on accelerating the fine-tuning of legal institutions and the revisions of legal documents to ensure the full and effective implementation of its commitments to the TPP agreement.

VN, China augment law and judicial cooperation

A Chinese Justice Ministry delegation led by Lu EnGuang, head of its Political Department, has visited Viet Nam to explore Viet Nam's legal system, legal training and communications.

Welcoming the delegation’s courtesy visit on September 22, Vice Minister of Justice Le ThanhLong emphasized on Viet Nam’s unwavering policy of promoting its strategic comprehensive partnership with China. 

He said both countries should boost cooperation for mutual benefit while dealing with differences in respect of national sovereignty and peace for development.

Int’l Pharma-healthcare expo opens in HCM City

A wide range of pharmaceutical and healthcare products and equipment are on display at thePharmedi 2016 that opens on September 21 in HCM City.

The 11th Viet Nam International Exhibition on Products, Equipment, Supplies for Medical, Pharmaceutical, Hospital and Rehabilitation will have 600 booths set up by more than 350 exhibitors from 25 countries and territories.

Viet Nam's biggest medical and healthcare expo will run through September 24 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in District 7.

VN promotes tourism in France

A programme with the theme of “Ha Noi – the cradle of cultural heritage” has been held in Paris in an effort to introduce Ha Noi’s and Viet Nam’s cultural essence as well as recent tourism policies.

The event was a chance for Viet Nam to advertise the nation’s images, people, culture and tourist products to the French public as well as for tourism businesses of the two countries to seek cooperation opportunities.

Int’l exhibition on fire safety equipment opens in Ha Noi

The International Fire Safety & Rescue and Security Technology and Equipment Exhibition 2016 kicked off in Ha Noi.

The expo features 450 booths showcasing fire rescue and prevention equipment and security products of leading manufacturers and suppliers from 18 countries and territories. 

The event offers an excellent opportunity for domestic and foreign businesses to share experience and study investment in fire safety industry in Viet Nam .
