Party General Secretary meets Russian legislators

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit is an important landmark for the bilateral relations between the two countries, top Russia legislators said during their separate meetings with the Vietnamese Party chief.

The two sides discussed the current situation of their countries and Viet Nam-Russia relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concerns.

They also agreed to support each other in creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese in Russia and Russian in Viet Nam and work closely together at the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF)

VN, Laos vow to lift up trade turnover to US$2 bln

PM Nguyen Tan Dung met with Lao PM Thongsinh Thammavong to discuss measures to enhance the relationship between the two countries, on the sidelines of the 8th Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam (CLV) Development Triangle Summit.

They vowed to continue cooperation in launching strategic connectivity projects in the time to come and conclude negotiations on a new free trade agreement in a bid to raise the two-way trade value to US$2 billion by 2015.

The two leaders also exchanged views on issues of regional concern and agreed to step up coordination in ASEAN and other regional and subregional mechanisms.

VN, Cambodia aim for US$ 5 bln in trade by 2015

PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen affirmed determination to raise two-way trade to US$5 billion by 2015.

The two PMs reached the agreement in Laos on the sidelines of the ongoing 8th Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam (CLV) Development Triangle Summit.

The two PMs also highly praised the efforts of competent agencies of the two countries in border demarcation and underlined their determination to early fulfill the task and contribute to building a borderline of peace, stability, cooperation and development.  

They were unanimous in creating favorable ways and granting equal treatment for overseas Vietnamese and Cambodian people and ensure their legitimate rights.

RoK – largest investor in VN in 11 months

The total newly-registered and additional capital from the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s businesses into Viet Nam reached US$6.82 billion over the past 11 months of 2014.

The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) businesses registered to invest US$17.33 billion in Viet Nam in 11 months, equal to 83.3% of the same period last year. The total disbursed FDI was estimated at US$11.2 billion, up 6.2%.

As of November 20, as many as 1,427 projects were licensed with a total registered capital of US$13.41 billion, equal to 97.3% of the same period last year. A total number of 515 projects were added with US$3.92 billion, as much as 55.7% of the same period last year.

CPI decreases 0.27% in November

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in November decreased 0.27% compared to the previous month and saw a year-on-year increase of 2.6%.

Among 11 commodities, four witnessed decreases in prices including restaurants and food services down 0.03%, housing and building materials down 0.74%, transportation down 2.75% and telecommunication down 0.02%.

Other commodities such as beverage and tobacco, garments, hats, footwear, equipments and interior decoration slightly increased from 0,03%-1,24%.

VN-Australia two-way trade value up nearly 30%

Viet Nam continues to enjoy a trade surplus of US$1.5 billion from Australia over the first nine months of 2014.

In the reviewed period, the two sides’ trade reached US$4.6 billion, a year-on-year rise of 29.2%.

Viet Nam earned US$3.05 billion from exporting to Australia, up 25%.

Russia- sixth largest EU trade partner of VN

Russia was the sixth largest trade partner of Viet Nam in the EU over the past 10 months of 2014, according to the Viet Nam Customs.

As of October this year, the two countries' two-way trade reached US$2.21 billion, down 5.8% compared to the same period last year.

Viet Nam’s exports to and imports from Russia were US$1.44 billion and US$768 million, down 10.6% and up 4.5%, respectively.
