NA approves minimum salary increase plan

The National Assembly (NA) has assigned the Government to increase the minimum salary level from VND1,150,000 to VND1,210,000 per month for cadres, civil servants, officials and armed servicemen since May 1 next year.

The issue, stated in Resolution on State budget estimates for 2016, was approved on November 11 with 79,35% of votes of National Assembly deputies  during their ongoing sitting.

The Resolution sets the budget revenue target of VND1,014,500billion next year (excluding the VND4,700 billion transferred from the local budgets from 2015). The total State budget spending is estimated at VND1,273,200 billion.

The State budget overspending will be VND254,000 billion, equal to 4.95% of the GDP.

New Deputy Minister, provincial Chairmen named

The PM has appointed Director of Agro-Forestry Processing and Salt Industry Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Trong Thua as Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

The PM ratified the additional election of Deputy Secretary of the Phu Tho Party Committee Bui Minh Chau as Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee from 2011-2016.

The PM approved the election of Mr. Lam Van Bi, former head of the Ca Mau Department of Finance as Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

Nagoya Protocol on access to genetic resources approved

The PM has approved the Nagoya Protocol on access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits, which is sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) non-refundable aid through the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The project, worth more than US$12.5 million, will be launched within four years in Ha Noi and Lao Cai Province.

UNESCO advocates VN’s establishment of Type-2 Mathsand Physics Centers

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has approved Viet Nam’s establishment of two Type-2 Maths and Physics Centers at the ongoing 38th session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris.

In the context of international integration, the UNESCO’s recognition and support for Viet Nam to join the Type-2 Mathsand Physics network has shown the international acknowledgement of Viet Nam’s intellect.

FDI to Binh Duong sets record high

The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) poured in the southern province of Binh Duong has witnessed a sharp increase since early 2015, reaching more than US$1.6 billion, which exceeded the set plan for the whole year by 60%.

According to the province’s Department of Planning and Investment, as many as 2,548 valid projects, worth more than US$22 billion, are under way.

Bac Giang eyes US$6.5 billion in export revenues by 2020

The northern province of Bac Giang is aiming for US$6.5 billion in export revenues with an annual export growth from 20-21% during 2016-2020.

Local export activities have seen stellar performance, with total earnings expected to hit US$2.6 billion this year. Average export growth stood at nearly 51% per year during 2011-2015, which is higher than the nation’s estimated figure of 18%.

Vietbuild 2015 international exhibition opens in HN

The second Vietbuild 2015 International Exhibition opened in Ha Noi on November 11 with the theme of “Real Estate – Interior & Exterior Decoration and Building Materials.”

The event, which will run through November 15, attracted the participation of 400 companies who display their products and solutions at 1,260 booths.
