Leaders pay respect to President Ho Chi Minh

Representatives of the Party, State, National Assembly, and Viet Nam Fatherland Front laid wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Ha Noi on May 19 in remembrance of the late President's 126th birthday.

The delegation included Party General Secretary NguyenPhuTrong, State President Tran Dai Quang, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.

The leaders expressed their respect for and gratitude to Uncle Ho, who founded and developed the Communist Party of Viet Nam and made great contributions to Viet Nam’s revolution.

State President urges WB to promote its coordination role

State President Tran Dai Quang has called on the World Bank (WB) to carry forward its coordination role and mobilize more financial support to help Vietnam deal with challenges hindering its integration and socio-economic development, especially those in climate change response, renewable energy development, health care and education.

The State leader met with WB Vice President for the East Asia and Pacific Region Victoria Kwakwa in Ha Noi on May 19, where he called for his guest’s backing of Viet Nam’s efforts to access preferential resources via the bank, particularly the International Development Association’s loans.

Noting her desire for more chances to contribute to coping with drought and saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta region, the official told her host that the bank will soon submit a number of projects on education reform, land management and policy reform in combination with climate change response.

Start-up ecosystem for new innovative enterprises project to be launched

The PM has approved the national project on supporting the start-up ecosystem for new innovative enterprises till the year 2025.

The project is aimed at creating a favorable environment to accelerate and support the formation and establishment of enterprises with intellectual property, technology and new business models.

Resettlement policy frame of Mekong Delta Integrated Climate Resilience ratified

Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh has approved the resettlement policy frame of the Mekong Delta Integrated Climate Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Project, which is financed by the World Bank (WB).

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will monitor and supervise the implementation of the policy frame.

Defense Minister appreciates ambassadors’ contributions

Minister of Defence Ngo Xuan Lich on May 19 received the ambassadors from China, Indonesia, France and the United States to Viet Nam and appreciated their contributions to bilateral ties.

General Lich affirmed the Party, the State, Vietnamese people and the Viet Nam People’s Army always appreciate the ambassadors’ contributions in cementing and developing the unity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and other countries.

VN-fifth largest investor in Cambodia

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia on May 19 organized a seminar on Vietnamese businesses’ investment and operation in Cambodia in 2016 with the participation of around 100 Vietnamese representatives.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Thach Du said that the traditional relationship and favorable conditions created by the two nations’ Governments have enhanced the economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two sides.

The seminar was held to evaluate Vietnamese enterprises’ investment activities in Cambodia, update information about adjusted policies of Cambodia to facilitate foreign businesses as well as gather comments and proposals of the business community.

Largest Ho Chi Minh memorial site overseas inaugurated in Thailand

The largest commemorative site for President Ho Chi Minh outside Vietnam was inaugurated in Nachok village, Muang district, in Thailand’s northeastern province of Nakhon Phanomon May 19, the date of the late President’s birthday.

The event was attended by more than 3,000 people from high-ranking delegations of the Vietnamese Party, the Government, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Associations, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, representatives from the Thai Foreign Ministry, Thai people and Vietnamese expats in Thailand.
