Party Central Committee debates personnel recommendations

The 12th Party Central Committee on July 6 heard the Politburo’s proposal on candidates for top positions at State agencies to be submitted to the new National Assembly’s first session.

At the 13th National Assembly’s 11th session held in late March and early April this year, NA deputies elected and approved the posts of president, prime minister, NA chairperson and 34 other leaders of State agencies, introduced by the Party Central Committee at its second plenum.

At the current plenum, the Party Central Committee will not discuss the already appointed positions. They will focus on the candidates for the remaining 13 positions that were not introduced at the previous plenum.

VN to host ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019

The PM has approved the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s plan to host the 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) as mentioned in Dispatch No. 5492/VPCP-QHQT dated July 5, 2016.

The ministry has been assigned to build a detailed scheme for the event and submit it to the PM in line with Decision No. 76/2010/QĐ-TTg dated November 30, 2010 on organization and management of international conferences and workshops in Viet Nam.

The ATF is an important activity of the largest scale in the framework of ASEAN tourism cooperation.

Deputy PM urges businesses to prioritize environmental protection

Environmental protection must be the top priority of businesses, Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung said at a reception on July 6 for General Director of Doosan Vina in Viet Nam Jung Yeon In.

The Deputy PM also urged foreign companies to ensure labor safety, take good care of workers, carry out humanitarian and charity programs, and contribute to Viet Nam’s social welfare policies.

Director General Jung Yeon In expressed his wish to cooperate with Vietnamese partners to develop mechanical engineering and increase the responsibility of the business community for social affairs and environmental protection.

VN facilitates Thai group’s investment

Viet Nam will create the best conditions for Thailand’s SCG Group to carry out investment projects in the country as scheduled, Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung said at a meeting with President and CEO of the group Roogrote Rangsiyo Path in Ha Noi on July 6.

Roogrote Rangsiyo Path said his group is actively implementing its oil refinery project in Viet Nam.

VN-Cyprus visa exemption agreement approved

The Vietnamese government has approved an agreement on mutual visa exemption for individuals holding diplomatic and official passports signed with the Republic of Cyprus.

The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry has been assigned to complete diplomatic procedures as stipulated and inform relevant agencies of the effective date of the agreement.    

Binh Duong runs US$1.9 billion trade surplus

The southern province of Binh Duong recorded a trade surplus of US$1.9 billion in the first half of 2016, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

In the period, the locality’s export turnover reached US$10.7billion , up 16.5% year-on-year. The foreign-invested economic sector accounted for 80.8% of the turnover.

Shrimp export to China surges sharply

Viet Nam’s shrimp export to China and Hong Kong in the first five months of 2016 increased 34.3% year on year.

During the period, Viet Nam earned US$1.1 billion from shrimp products, representing a 5.9% surge compared to the same period last year.
