VN commits to effective use of Japan’s ODA
Viet Nam attaches importance and commits to effective use of Japan’s official development assistance (ODA).
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung highly valued the support of Japan for Viet Nam at international forums, hoping that legislators of both countries would further cooperate and exchange experience in a bid to enhance the strategic partnership.
Chairman of the Japan - Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Chairman of Lower House Budget Committee Toshihiro Nikai appraised the quality of Nhat Tan bridge project and other Japan-financed projects in Viet Nam, saying the success of these projects will help promote the two nations’ cooperation.
Gov’t attaches importance to science and technology development
The Vietnamese Government regards the development of education and training and science and technology as the top national policy, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung at the closing ceremony of the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).
The event created a chance to find talents and promote the development of chemistry, he said, adding that it is an honor for Viet Nam to host this event.
Also at the closing ceremony, the organizers rewarded a total number of 28 gold, 63 silver and 92 bronze medals.
Several agricultural export indexes up
The export turnover of agriculture-forestry-aquatic products in July was estimated at US$2.38 billion, raising the sector’s aggregate export value to US$1743 billion in the first seven months.
Of the July figure, agricultural exports rose 5.9% to US$8.31 billion, aquatic exports surged 24.5% to US$4.2 billion and forestry products increased 13.2% to US$3.52 billion.
Samsung Thai Nguyen gains US$2 bln in three months
The total export turnover of Samsung Thai Nguyen Hi-Tech Complex (SEVT) reached nearly US$2 billion after three months of operation.
As of June this year, the company produced 5.4 million products and earned US$2 billion from exporting smartphones and tablets. Around 6 million products are expected to be made at the end of July.
Japan helps Thua Thien Hue adapt to natural calamity
The Japanese Government has provided ¥60.456 million in non-refundable aid to central Thua Thien Hue province for a natural calamity adaptation project (phase II).
The funding is channeled through Japan International Cooperation Agency.
RoK – a leading foreign investor in VN
Republic of Korea (RoK) businesses have pumped over US$3.13 billion of cash into Viet Nam’s economy in the first seven months of the year, accounting for one third of the country’s total foreign direct investment.
Statistics from the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) of Viet Nam also show RoK businesses have poured more than US$1.5 billion into the Southeast Asian country since June 2014, making the RoK the largest foreign investor in the country.
Korean city boosts cooperation with Quang Nam
A high-ranking delegation from Osan city, the Republic of Korea (RoK) led by Osan mayor Kwak Sang Wook paid a working visit to central Quang Nam province to explore cooperation opportunities.
Osan and Quang Nam leaders agreed to promote cultural and sports exchange, and foster cooperation in such fields as investment, education, and human resource training.
Formosa still committed to US$10bln steel plant
Formosa Plastics Group, the largest industrial conglomerate in Taiwan, still remains committed to the construction of the mammoth integrated steel mill in Viet Nam.
The Taiwanese firm is now the largest foreign investor in Viet Nam in terms of the investment capital, based on its US$10 billion steel integrated mill and deep-seaport in the Vung Ang Economic Zone in the central province of Ha Tinh.
The firm has also invested US$900 million in the southern province of Dong Nai for manufacturing yarn and polyester fibers.
