NA Chairman calls for greater judicial role
 
Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Sinh Hung has urged the judiciary to promote its key role in implementing and popularising the Constitution and thus enhancing social respect for law.
The Chairman made the statement at a national conference to review judicial implementations in 2014 and launch 2015 tasks.

He affirmed that the 2013 Constitution has laid a political and legal foundation for the country to enter in the next level of development.

VN treasures ties with China
 
The Vietnamese Party, Government and people always attach importance to maintaining and developing the friendship and cooperation with China in a stable, healthy and sustainable manner, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has said.

Attending a banquet celebrating the 65 th anniversary of Viet Nam-China diplomatic ties held by the Chinese Embassy in Ha Noi, the Vietnamese leader stressed that during the 65-year journey the bilateral relations have sometimes met with difficulties, but the cooperation and friendship have kept growing thanks to concerted efforts.
 
Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam Hong Xiao affirmed China always treasures its ties with VietNam and wishes to work with the neighbor to bring the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level of development.
 
 
VN, Thailand boost defence cooperation
 
The Thai military delegation’s visit to Viet Nam will contribute to promoting the friendship and mutual understanding between the two armies.
 
Thai Deputy PM and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon is leading a high-ranking defence delegation to visit Viet Nam at the invitation of Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh
 
The two sides reviewed their defence cooperation over the past time, and mapped out measures to beef up their defence cooperation in the time to come, especially in delegation exchanges, education and training, and joint patrols at sea.
 
Korean and UK firms granted investment certificates in HCM City

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan granted investment certificates to a firm from the UK and a firm from the Republic of Korea (RoK) for an expected investment of $178 million.
Addressing the approval ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tat Thang Cang vowed full support for investors by streamlining bureaucracy, fine-tuning legal regulations, and upgrading infrastructure.

Thailand steps up tra fish imports

Thailand’s imports of Vietnamese tra fish in 2014 jumped 25% on-year, according to the latest statistics from the General Department of Viet Nam Customs.
As of the end of last year, Thailand's importation of Vietnamese tra fish ranked second among the ASEAN countries.
 
In the first eleven months of last year, Thailand’s tra fish imports from Viet Nam were estimated at $40.5 million, accounting for 97% of the total market share of frozen fish fillet imports.
 
VN attends Jenesys 2.0 science-technology event in Japan

The best 76 students from 11 Vietnamese universities set off to Japan for the Science and Technology program under the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths 2.0, to be held in Japan from January 12 to 22.
So far, more than 250 Vietnamese students and young researchers have participated in the programme, which is part of the co-operation framework between Japan and the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
 
This is the 4th time Viet Nam has participated in the program.
 
Da Nang ranks first among top destinations for 2015
TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, has named Da Nang City among top 10 attractive destination on the rise in Asia and the world.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Da Nang city Tran Chi Cuong said that Da Nang has a wide range of peaceful and beautiful natural landscapes that receive great endorsements from travellers around the world.
 
Da Nang has opened many international air routes such as those connecting with Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan and Cambodia.
