Party leader visits China’s Yunnan province

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his high-level delegation on April 9 left Beijing for Yunnan province as part of their activities during the China visit from April 7-10.

Trong and his entourage were warmly welcomed in Kunming- the capital city of Yunnan province by Yunnan provincial Party Committee Secretary, Kunming and Yunan representatives along with numerous Consulate General staff and overseas Vietnamese in Kunming.

Before leaving Beijing, Trong met leaders from a number of Chinese enterprises investing in Viet Nam.

 VN, China issue joint communiqué

Viet Nam and China have issued a joint communiqué on the occasion of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to China from April 7-10 at the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) General Secretary and State President Xi Jinping.

 US Navy Secretary welcomed in VN

Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty recieved the US Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus in Ha Noi.

Mr. Ty said Defense relations between the two countries have been growing over the past several years, with strengthened naval cooperation.

For his part, secretary Mabus said that the potential of naval cooperation between the two countries is huge.

The exchange of delegations at all levels and joint activities between the two navies will contribute to fostering the partnership between Vietnamese and US armed forces, he added.

 Japan invests $1 million in high-tech indoor farm in Ha Nam

Japanese group Showa Denko’s general director Daiken Murakami has decided to build a factory producing safe vegetables in the northern province of Ha Nam, with a total investment capital of US$1 million.

At a working session with the provincial People’s Committee, Murakami explained the details of the proposed ‘plant factory’ and introduced the technique of using LED lights for growing vegetables indoors.

The factory, to be built in Duy Tien District’s Dong Van II Industrial Zone, will adopt a cultivation system that uses LED lighting instead of sunlight.

 Party Economic Commission Head meets WB official

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Vuong Dinh Hue asked the World Bank to support the Commission in policymaking, especially national industry policy. 

Hue made the request at his meeting with WB Country Director in Viet Nam Victoria Kwakwa in Ha Noi, where the two discussed their cooperation plans for the future. 

Kwakwa stated the WB will give priority to supporting the Commission in making national industry policy and that it is willing to share its experience in the fields of request.

Philippine enterprises promote trade in HCM City

 Enterprises from the Philippines are looking for opportunities to meet with Vietnamese partners to expand connections across food processing, cosmetics, hotels and construction.

Sanchez Dannilo, Vice President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry - National Capital Region (PCCI-NCR), expressed the wish as he led a Philippine business delegation to a meeting with Vietnamese firms in Ho Chi Minh City.

 First VN-RoK cultural festival to be held in HaNoi

A cultural extravaganza promoting the vibrant traditional customs of the Republic of Korea (RoK) will be featured at the first RoK-Viet Nam Cultural Festival, taking place at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Ha Noi on April 11.

The event is jointly held by the Korean Cultural Centre in Viet Nam and the Korean Residents Association in Ha Noi as part of activities to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Viet Nam-RoKdiplomatic ties.

Visitors to the event will be embedded in a cultural exchange programme including RoK traditional music, folk games, cuisine and fashion shows.
