NA examines revised Enterprise Law

The National Assembly Standing Committee agreed that it is necessary to revise the 2005 Enterprise Law in order to enforce the Constitution, especially taking into consideration the relationship between the State, market, and businesses.

A Government report presented at session noted that businesses of every economic sector are offered a fair treatment working in the same legal corridor in accordance with the market-oriented mechanism.

The revision of the Enterprise Law aims to create a legal framework to facilitate the enterprise restructuring process by focusing on State economic groups, corporations, and offer a new impetus to the development of the enterprises with an advanced management method in accordance with international economic integration.

Forum promotes development in Cambodia, Laos, VN

A forum for development partners in the development triangle area of Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam (CLV) took place on April 21 in Buon Ma Thuat, Central Highlands Dak Lak Province to seek partnerships to realize potentials held by the area.

To develop the CLV triangle sustainably, it is necessary to draw up a joint vision, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Tomoyuki Kimura said, adding that these nations have to prepare a united roadmap and investment framework, identify priorities, use resources more effectively and diversify investment sources.

Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed that the event is the chance for leaders of ministries, agencies and localities of the three nations and international delegates to sort out find specific measures for each locality in fulfilling its socio-economic development.

VN, US deal with Agent Orange/Dioxin consequences

The second roundtable of U.S.-Viet Nam Dialogue Group on Agent Orange/Dioxin was held on April 21 in Bien Hoa, southern Dong Nai Province.

The USAID is cooperating with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and other relevant agencies to launch some programs and projects to take care for handicapped, including ones affected by Agent Orange/Dioxin and children.

CPI in Ha Noi lowest in 12 years

Ha Noi’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in April only increased 0.12% compared to the previous month and up 6.27% against the same period last year.

Over the past four months, the CPI rose 1.15% against December 2013, lowest over the recent 12 years.

After decreasing in the previous months, the CPI slightly picked up thanks to the rise in prices of 10 out of 11 main commodity groups.

Binh Duong aims for US$ 1 bln in FDI

Over the past three months, the industrial production of the FDI businesses saw a year-on-year increase of 14% and accounted for 67% of the province’s total industrial production value.

28 FDI projects have had an additional capital of US$533 million in the reviewed months, accounting for 73% of total FDI attracted by the province.

The Law on Vietnamese Nationality has been amended to guarantee the rights to nationality and citizenship for women getting married with foreigners as well as provide related information and knowledge for immigrants.

Japanese businesses eye agriculture partnership in Mekong Delta

As many as 40 Japanese businesses operating in seafood industry, farming, trade, and also financial services attended a seminar on investment environment and cooperation potential in agriculture between Japan and the Mekong Delta region in Can Tho city.

The Japanese participants were introduced to 122 projects that the Mekong Delta region is calling for investment. 

The Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region and the Japan-Mekong Business Cooperation Committee signed a memorandum of understanding on economic cooperation.
