Press conference on State President’s upcoming visit to India

VGP – Vietnamese Ambassador to Viet Nam Ton Sinh Thanh on February 27 chaired a press conference on the upcoming State visit to India by State President Tran Dai Quang.

February 28, 2018 3:56 PM GMT+7

Viet Nam has gained a number of socio-economic and diplomatic achievements over the past years, especially in 2017 when it successfully organized the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, said the Ambassador.

The two nations have enjoyed continual progress in their relations with many mutual visits and trade approximating US$7.5 billion in 2017.

The visit by State President Tran Dai Quang from March 2-4 is the first trip to India by a State President of Viet Nam in seven years since a visit by then State President Truong Tan Sang in 2011, followed by Indian PM Narendra Modi’s tour to Viet Nam and Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to India in 2016.

The visit aims to affirm Viet Nam’s consistent policy of enhancing the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with India. It is intended to effectively expand bilateral cooperation in all aspects, from politics, diplomacy, defense to economy, investment, tourism, culture and education, thus enhancing their comprehensive strategic partnership more intensively.

During the visit, the two sides are set to review the Friendship Year 2017 and kick off an array of activities within the framework of the Vietnamese culture days in India. They will also discuss several regional and international issues of shared concern, the ambassador added.

He also informed about other important activities during the trip and fielded reporters’ questions on economic connections, cooperation in defense, sea-related issues, including East Sea issue and cultural relations, and Viet Nam’s relations with other countries.
