President launches 2017 Tree Planting Festival

VGP – State President Tran Dai Quang beat the drum to launch the 2017 Tree Planting Festival in the northern province of Quang Ninh on the morning of February 2.

February 02, 2017 4:47 PM GMT+7

The launching ceremony was held in the environmental rehabilitation section of the Deo Nai Coal Joint Stock Company under the Viet Nam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) in Cam Pha city’s Cam Son ward.

In his speech, the State President extended his best New Year greetings to compatriots, comrades and soldiers across the country as well as Quang Ninh’s Party organization, authorities and people.

Hailing the tree planting festival as a beautiful custom of the Vietnamese people on the spring days, President Quang called on compatriots, comrades, teenagers and children across the country to eagerly participate in the planting of trees and forests suited to conditions of each region, and take specific measures to protect forests and prevent deforestation, forest burning and illegal forest exploitation.

He expressed his belief that with the new impetus and determination, the 2017 Tree Planting Festival in memory of late President Ho Chi Minh would bring about fruitful results.
