President Nguyễn Minh Triết embarks on Lao visit

VNGOVNet – At the invitation of Mr. Choummaly Sayasone, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and State President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, President Nguyễn Minh Triết, his wife and the Vietnamese senior State delegation left Hanoi in the morning of February 5 for Laos on an official visit due on February 5-7, 2007.

The senior delegation included leaders of the ministries of Transport, Agriculture and Rural Development, National Defense, Foreign Affairs, Education and Training, Committee for Sports and Physical Culture as well as those of the provinces of Điện Biên, Lai Châu, Sơn La, Thanh Hóa, and Nghệ An.

The Vietnamese President's trip is expected to cement the mutual trust and bond of the two countries, thus helping to further the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and two peoples. The visit will also include discussion on ways of boosting bilateral economic cooperation.
