Postal stamps on Trang An Complex issued

VGP - A set of three postal stamps and a poster have been released to mark UNESCO's recognition of Trang An Complex in northern Ninh Binh province as a Cultural and Natural World Heritage Site.

January 27, 2015 3:32 PM GMT+7

Information and Communication Minister Nguyen Bac Son said the stamps are to honour as well as to preserve the cultural and natural values of Trang An complex.

The ministry issued the stamps to introduce Viet Nam's scenery and other masterpieces to the world and to attract visitors, he added.

Trang An complex covers 12,000ha, featuring mainly primary tropical forest with caves and underground stream and a well-developed river and stream system created after inundation of the sea many times in the past. Trang An is also a complex of limestone karst peaks, most of which tower 200m.

The stamps were created by artists Nguyen Du and Do Lenh Tuan from the Viet Nam Post Corporation. They feature the Tam Coc-Bich Dong grottos, Dark Cave, Ngo Dong River and the water procession to Dinh Tien Hoang's temple.

The stamps, launched by the Ministry of Information and Communication and Viet Nam Post Corporation in Ninh Binh Province, went on sale on January 23 and will remain on issue until December 31, 2016.

The Trang An Complex boasts several nationally recognised sites like the Trang An ecotourism site and Hoa Lu, Vietnam's capital in the 10th and 11th centuries.

The area also has many other temples, pagodas, paddy fields, villages, and other sacred sites.
