Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Vinh stressed on the role of ASEAN in dealing with regional crucial and strategic issues, raising adaption abilities to changes and attractiveness to crucial partners in the region and in the world.

The vision beyond 2015 must ensure the continuation of the ASEAN Community building roadmap, said Mr. Vinh, adding that the vision must deal with both short- and middle-term objectives and long-term ones, including major goals and ideals that ASEAN should target in the decades after 2015.

On the post-2015 Political-Security Community development, participants stressed that the bloc should focus on ensuring an environment of peace, security and stability in the region.

Secretary-General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh highly valued contributions of Viet Nam in the bloc's three community pillars of political and security cooperation, economic integration, and socio-cultural cooperation.

ASEAN should continue consolidating intra-bloc solidarity, building trust and effectively deal with both internal and external challenges, continuing efforts to uphold its central role in solving regional matters as well as developing regional architecture.

Regarding the Economic Community, ASEAN should continue speeding up the building of a common market and stepping up trade facilitation process, making it easier for the undertaking of dialogue with partners.
Additionally, ASEAN should continue strengthening areas directly connecting to people’s interest such as increasing access to social welfare, human development, and climate change and natural disaster response.
