The Government leader assigns the Ministry of Transport to continue working with the Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee to finalize the content of the report and sign the Government’s report to be submitted to the National Assembly on the project’s pre-feasibility study report.

The Long Thanh International Airport is a national-level project of special importance and significant meaning to Viet Nam’s socio-economic development.

The investment plan for the project was passed at the ninth meeting of the 13th NA in Resolution No. 94/2015/QH13 dated June 25, 2015, with the aim of building the Long Thanh Airport to meet the 4F standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), towards becoming one of the international passenger and cargo transit center in the Southeast Asian region, with a handling capacity of 100 million passengers and five million tons of cargo per year.

The first phase of the project will invest in constructing a runway and a passenger terminal, together with supporting categories, with a capacity of handling 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo annually. Work on the first phase is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by 2025.
