Poland to gift more than 501,000 vaccine doses to Viet Nam

Gerwel said his country is willing to share three million COVID-19 vaccine doses with Viet Nam.

Poland will also donate medical equipment and supplies worth US$4 million, scheduled to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on August 25, Gerwel added.

Viet Nam is the first non-Europe partner country to receive Poland’s vaccine and medical supply donations, according to the diplomat.

To date, Viet Nam has received more than 19 million doses of vaccines from various sources, of which 15,271,562 doses have been administered, with 1,401,834 people fully vaccinated.

In reply, PM Pham extended sincere thanks for Poland’s gifts and willing to share such a huge volume of vaccines with Viet Nam.

Expressing his pleasure at the positive development of the Viet Nam-Poland relationship over the past time, Pham suggested both countries should further enhance contacts between high-level leaders, ministries and localities via flexible formats.

He asked the two sides to step up cooperation in such fields like investment, official development assistance, national defense, information technology, education and training, culture and arts.

Pham took the occasion to convey his invitation to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to visit Viet Nam.

Regarding multilateral aspect, the two sides discussed ways to foster collaboration at multilateral and regional forums, underlining the importance of ensuring security, safety, and freedom of navigation and aviation as well as settlement of disputes through peaceful means on the basis of international law, United Nations Charter and 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea./.
