PetroVietnam to build power plant in Laos
VNGOP – The governments of Việt Nam and Laos have given green light to the Việt Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to build a 1,410 MW hydro-electricity power plant on the Mekong River bank in Laos.
The construction of the Luang Prabang Power Plant, built in the form of BOT (build-operate-transfer) with 100 percent of investment from Việt Nam, is expected to begin in 2008.
Once completed, the plant will provide power to both Việt Nam and Laos.
