Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải made the statement in Lima on April 16 (local time) when he paid a courtesy call to Peruvian PM Oscar Eduardo Valdes Dancuart.

The Peruvian PM said the Deputy PM’s visit to Peru will foster practical cooperation activities between the two countries, helping bolster their fine friendship and multifaceted cooperation in the coming time.

The two sides agreed that being active members of the United Nations and Non-Aligned Movement, having similar political viewpoints and increasingly close cooperation at forums, including the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) are good conditions for Việt Nam and Peru to develop their ties.

The two countries will strengthen exchanges of high-level visits, with Peruvian PM Ollanta Humala scheduled to visit Việt Nam in mid-2012. Peru is going to recognize Việt Nam’s market economy. It also plans to open its embassy in Việt Nam in the coming time.

Việt Nam is implementing some important investment projects in Peru, including projects totaling US $1.5 billion invested by PVN and Viettel. The two-way trade between the two countries surged to US $165 million in 2011 from US $55.3 million in 2006.

Peruvian PM Oscar Eduardo Valdes Dancuart said his Government pledges to create favorable conditions for Việt Nam’s projects in Peru, especially those by PVN and Viettel.

On the same day, Deputy PM Hải met with leaders of the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
