People upbeat about Government’s operation, says PM

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc tasked ministries, agencies, and localities to review shortcomings which were mentioned by the National Assembly and seek for solutions.

PM Phuc chaired the regular meeting for November on December 2 in Ha Noi. 

Addressing the event, PM Phuc praised the Government’s members for their active engagement in law making, draft reports, and the Q&A session at the eighth session of the 14th National Assembly. 

The NA acknowledged the Government’s positive management and regulations which  led to the accomplishment of all 12 preset goals. 

According to PM Phuc, people believed and were upbeat about the Government’s operation. However, the NA also noticed some shortcomings in management work. Hence, the PM tasked ministries and agencies to pay attention to and solve shortcomings which were mentioned by the NA. 

The Government leader took the occasion to express his pleasure at the encouraging competition results of the male and female football teams at the World Cup and SEA Games 30.

He suggested the Government’s members to discuss socio-economic performance in the first 11 months and socio-economic development norms for 2020 including the building of Resolution 01 and prepare for the upcoming expanded Government meeting scheduled on December 30 with the participation of the Party General Secretary, State President. 

Regarding the socio-economic performance in November and the first 11 months, PM Phuc assessed the global and regional clear economic slowdown especially in Asia. However, the domestic economic situations were positive.

Specifically, the macro-economy was stable while CPI experienced a month-on-month growth of 0.96% due to high pork costs. However, average CPI picked up 2.57% in the first 11 months which was a record high over the past three years. 

The agro-forestry-fishery sector was positive. Total retail sales of goods and services went up 11.8%. 

Especially, PM Phuc highlighted that the number of foreign arrivals unprecedentedly hit 1.8 million in November and nearly 16.2 million in the first 11 months, representing a year-on-year growth of 15.4%. 

According to PM Phuc, last year, the RoK’s people selected Osaka as the city worth for living and arriving. In 2019, Korean people picked Hoi An and Da Nang. 

Export turnover positively increased. Trade surplus valued US$ 9.1 billion, making the fourth consecutive year in which Viet Nam ran a trade surplus. 

FDI was stable. The total amount of FDI disbursement hit US$ 17.6 billion. 

In the first 11 months, 126,700 enterprises were founded. Up to 36,900 others resumed operation, up 15.7% against the same period last year. 

However, PM also pointed out pressing issues which must be handled by year end. 

The Government leader tasked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development review the fight against animal diseases.

PM Phuc noticed the importance of coping with slow industrial production especially in the motorbike, automobile, and fertilizer sectors. 

The PM urged his inferiors to speed up FDI attraction; deal with fake certificates; rising dengue eqidemics, foreign-related crimes, transport safety, and complicated fire. 

PM Phuc called upon the Government’s members to contribute new initiatives in building Resolution 01. 

The Ministry of Planning and Investment was asked to collect comments for the draft resolution; prepare for a draft resolution on business and environment improvement. 

PM Phuc proposed the Government make specific contributions especially in culture, healthcare, education, environment, national defence, security, diplomacy in 2020 especially in fulfillment of the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 and the UNSC non-permanent member in the 2020-2021 period. 

At the meeting, PM Phuc presented flowers and congratulated former Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien who has recently taken over the post as the Head of   the Board of Healthcare Services for Senior Officials./.
