Party leader meets with Indian Foreign Minister

VGP – The relations between Viet Nam and India have been flourishing on the basis of mutual poitical trust and similarities, noted Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Party chief made the above statement during his meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid on Wednesday.

He called on the two countries to strengthen the bilateral ties through further exchange of delegations at all levels and promotion of cooperation in such fields like economics, trade, investment and national defense and security.

Party General Secretary Trong spoke highly of the outcomes of the 15th meeting of the Viet Nam-India Joint Committee for Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation last July.

During the meeting, both sides worked out specific plans to beef up economic linkages and the realization of agreements reached by high-ranking leaders.

The Vietnamese leader expressed his hope that the Indian Foreign Minister would make practical contribution to the advancement of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

For his part, Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid affirmed that Party General Trong’s current visit to India would be an important driving force for the development of the bilateral ties, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, national defense and security./.
