Party chief welcomes Japanese PM’s special envoy

VGP – Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed Viet Nam always treasures the extensive strategic partnership with Japan at his reception for Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s special envoy Sonoura Kentaro on Monday.

Sonoura Kentaro, who was dispatched to Viet Nam to convey PM Abe’s congratulations to Mr. Trong upon his election as the new State President of Viet Nam.

He said PM Abe wishes to continue close cooperation with Party General Secretary and State President Trong to further deepen the two countries’ strategic ties in a comprehensive and effective manner.

Japan highly valued Viet Nam’s development achievements and positive role toward regional and international isues, the special envoy said.

He also reiterated that Japan attaches great importance to cooperation and friendship with Viet Nam and is willing to work with Viet Nam to bring the bilateral ties to a new stage of comprehensive and practical development.

Party chief Trong suggested the two countries continue regular exchanges of high-level visits and contacts in order to consolidate political trust, accelerate economic connectivity and cooperation in such fields like agriculture, manpower, local-to-local ties as well as people-to-people exchanges./.
