Party chief lauds socio-economic achievements

Addressing the video-conference with localities, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said that in 2017 Viet Nam coped with numerous challenges and difficulties, however, the country continued to develop in a fast and comprehensive manner in almost all sectors. 

The Party chief named  difficulties and challenges. 

Specifically, the regional and global situations saw   unexpected developments. There were  various risks in the world economy as  protection trend reemerged and the fight against trade and investment liberalization occurred. 

Meanwhile, prolong weaknesses in society have yet been resolved such as corruption, wastefulness, and lack of disciplines. In addition, natural disasters, epidemics, and climate change took place unexpectedly, heavily affecting production and people’s lives. 

Meanwhile, Viet Nam has spared no effort to advance and develop in a sustainable manner and catch up with its regional peers.

Perfecting socialist-oriented market mechanisms and protecting social security

Regarding orientations and tasks for 2018, the Party chief mentioned Top 5 tasks as follow:

Firstly, perfecting the socialist-oriented market mechanism in line with Resolution of the fifth plenary meeting of the 12th Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee;

Secondly, making drastic changes in economic restructuring in combination with growth modal transformation, higher labor productivity, and economic competitiveness;

Thirdly, promoting Resolution of the 12th CPV Central Committee on radical and comprehensive reforms of education and training; 

Fourthly, developing culture, society, and taking care of people’s lives;

Fifthly, safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. 

The Party chief also noticed the importance of Party, political system, and Government building.  

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc promised that the Government, ministries, agencies, and locality would thoroughly implement the suggestions of the Party chief./.
