Party chief holds phone conversation with RoK President

VGP – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong held phone conversation with President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on July 15.

President Moon congratulated Viet Nam on the success of the two major events namely the 13th National Party Congress and the National Assembly election, expressing his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam guided by Party chief Nguyen, the Southeast Asian country will continue effective management of the COVID-19 pandemic and realize goals set out by the 13th National Party Congress.

Trong reassured that Viet Nam will continue sticking to its comprehensive and synchronous reform process, foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multi-lateralization of external relations, proactive and active international integration, being a trusted partner and an active and responsible member of the international community.

Moon affirmed his country attaches importance to the relationship with Viet Nam, emphasizing that Viet Nam is a key partner in its New Southern Policy Plus.

The RoK will continue to support and cooperate with Viet Nam in the fight against the pandemic, and expect to further strengthen collaboration in such fields like economy, diplomacy, security, defense, in order to soon bring the two-way trade to US$100 billion and elevate the bilateral ties to a new height, said Moon.

The two leaders agreed that both countries need to maintain exchanges and contacts at all levels in a flexible manner, accelerate cooperation in the COVID-19 fight, and deepen ties between political parties, legislative bodies, and young people so as to create solid foundation for robust advancement of the Viet Nam-RoK relationship.

The pair also compared notes on regional and international issues of share concerns./.
