The Vietnamese Party, State and Government leaders hailed the visit to Vietnam by the Cuban National Assembly delegation headed by Chairman Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada, adding that it will surely cement the good relationship between the two countries in general and the two legislative bodies in particular. The Vietnamese leaders reaffirmed the Vietnamese Party, State and people's consistent policy to strengthen and develop the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Cuba. They suggested that relevant ministries and agencies of the two countries build more effective cooperative programs and projects to make bilateral ties in economy, trade, science and technology and culture catch up with the strong growth of political relations.

In this spirit, the government leader said, he has urged the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee to convene soon in order to discuss concrete measures to implement agreements signed between senior leaders of the two countries, particularly those reached during Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh’s recent visit to Cuba.

Previously, after the solemn welcoming ceremony in the morning of June 08, National Assembly Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng had talks with his Cuban counterpart Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada.
