A solemn ceremony reserved for foreign heads of state was held at the Simon Bolivar International Airport to welcome General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh.

In the afternoon of May 30, the Vietnamese Party chief separately met Ms. Cilia Flores, Chairwoman of the Venezuela Parliament, and received the caretaker Board of Leaders of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh and Chairwoman Cilia Flores shared the view that the traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Venezuela is a common valuable asset and an important factor to accelerate bilateral cooperation.
The two sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of experiences between the two countries' parliaments, especially in building a legal framework for a stable, long-term and sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela.

The PSUV leaders emphasized that Vietnam's experience in national renovation, socio-economic development, international integration, building the ruling revolutionary party, socialist construction, and national defense are valuable contributions to the international communist and workers' movements as well as revolutions in the countries fighting for national independence, peace, democracy and social progress. The PSUV wished to promote regular exchanges of experiences with the Communist Party of Vietnam, helping boost the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
