PM's first activities on sidelines of Mekong-Japan Summit

The Vietnamese Government chief spoke highly of the League’ contributions to the development of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

PM Dũng noted that the strategic partnership between Việt Nam and Japan has been flourishing well in all fields, particularly economics, trade, investment amid global economic downturn.

Việt Nam would spare no effort to push the bilateral ties to new heights for the sake of each country and for peace, stability and development in the region, he affirmed.

The Vietnamese leader urged the two sides to further accelerate cooperation in infrastructure and energy development, rare earth exploitation, technology transfer, and supporting industry development.

Former PM Yukio Hatoyama appreciated the Vietnamese Government and people’s valuable support for Japan to overcome the damages caused by recent earth and tsunami.

Mr. Yukio Hatoyama affirmed that the Japan-Việt Nam Friendship Parliamentary League would actively canvass Japanese Government to raise official development assistance to support Việt Nam to develop infrastructure and train human resources.

On the same day, PM Dũng also met with President Ken Matsuzawa of the International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC); President Akihiko Tanaka of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Chairman Tadashi Okamura of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), and President and CEO Hiroshi Watanabe of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
