Quang Tri Province, one of the poorest provinces in the nation, was the first locality the PM held a working session with two years ago when he became the PM.

At the meeting, the PM hailed the province’s achievements, including the completion of 22 socio-economic criteria set for 2017, the economic growth of 7% and poor households only accounting for 11.7%.

The Government chief referred to the province’s administrative reform index ranking 11th among 63 localities, jumping three steps from 2016, particularly indexes in fields of transparency and activeness.

Quang Tri Province needs to select advantageous areas to ensure sustainable development with the spirit of “no one left behind”, continue setting new planning, heading to establish economic clusters, especially industrial and service clusters, he proposed.

The PM asked to improve the investment and business environment, increase the number of enterprises in the province (only 5,000 ones) and facilitate the small and medium-sized enterprises and new firms to get access to capital and land resources.

Mr. Phuc required boosting the implementation of high-technology, restructuring agriculture, operation of My Thuy harbor and Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park as well as applying new energy policies in such areas as wind and solar power and enhancing the development of tourism and services.
