The Government chief made the above statement on Thursday at his reception for newly-appointed Dutch Ambassador to Viet Nam Elsbeth Akkerman.

Phuc wishes the diplomat would have a successful working tenure in Viet Nam in order to make active contribution to the advancement of the bilateral ties.

He underlined the importance of the two countries’ strategic partnership on climate change adaptation while urging the two sides to work out measures to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Phuc vowed to create favorable conditions for Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman to fulfill her role in Viet Nam.

The diplomat congratulated the Government and people of Viet Nam on successful hosting the second summit between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the US last February.

She expressed her belief that Viet Nam would gain greater accomplishments in its new roles as ASEAN Chair in 2020 and non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.

Regarding bilateral ties, the two countries have coordinated and exchanged delegations across various fields, particularly in water management and clean and renewable energy development.

Businesses of the two countries have also organized a number of cooperation activities that open up prospect to step up bilateral ties effectively and practically, the Ambassador said.
