PM values U.S. Ambassador’s contributions to VN-U.S. ties
VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc spoke highly of Ted Osius’s contributions to elevating Viet Nam-United States ties, thus creating the foundation for the extensive development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the time ahead, on the basis of respecting each other’s political institutions.

The PM made the statement while hosting a reception for the outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam in Ha Noi on the morning of October 17.
He noted that the diplomat has made a successful working tenure in Viet Nam, evidenced by the organization of a number of mutual visits by senior leaders of the two sides, including the historic visit made by PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the U.S. in July 2015, U.S. President Barack Obama’s
Economic, trade and investment ties remain the focus and motivation for bilateral relations, with two-way trade increasing from US$36 billion in 2014, when the ambassador took office, to over US$50 billion at present, the Government leader said.
He welcomed the upcoming made to Viet Nam by President Donald Trump, voicing his belief that the relationship between the two countries will contribute actively to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world.

For his part, Ted Osius expressed his honour to accompany PM Phuc during his visit to the U.S. five months ago, stating that the success was a success, giving a boost to the development of bilateral relations.
The diplomat said he hoped that the upcoming Viet Nam visit made by President Donald Trump will bring the relationship between the two nations to a new height.
He highly appreciated the efforts made by Viet Nam’s ministries, sectors and localities in organizing the APEC 2017 events, hailing this as an occasion for Viet Nam to show its vibrant development to the world.
Expressing his deep sentiments towards Viet Nam, Ted Osius stated that after completing his working tenure as an ambassador, he will stay in Viet Nam to work in the field of education, with the aim of contributing to relations between the two countries.
