He said the VRC’s achievements have made realistic contributions to the national socio-economic development and guaranteeing social security.

The organization’s activities have supported production and disadvantaged people’s lives as well as dealing with natural disasters and calamity, the PM asserted.

He said he hoped that the VRC will further improve performance,, establish specific programs and plans and overcome shortcomings and weaknesses.

PM Dung asked for participation of functional ministries, agencies and localities in humanitarian activities and facilitated the VRC's participation in  some national target programs in fields of afforestation, health care and new rural establishment.

The VRCS currently has nearly 17,000 grassroots-level societies with more than 8 million members and volunteer workers.

Since July, 2012, the society has mobilized VND6.9 trillion (US$320 million) from domestic and foreign philanthropists for humanitarian activities.
