The PM made the request while chairing a meeting of the Government’s standing board in Ha Noi on August 22 concerning the organization of the WEF ASEAN 2018, which is considered one of Viet Nam’s biggest external relations events this year.

He praised the preparation efforts made by relevant ministries and agencies for such an important event to be held in Viet Nam, the first country with which the WEF has signed a cooperation deal in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) (in January 2017).

The leader stressed the need to accelerate communications about the conference, both at home and abroad, while creating the best possible conditions for correspondents to cover the conference’s activities.

He also urged adequate attention paid to the issue of business connection and investment cooperation at the upcoming conference, which is expected to gather more than 2,000 delegates, including many foreign groups.

According to the organizers, the conference is scheduled to take place from September 11 to 13, 2018, featuring an agenda of nearly 60 sessions and activities, with a number of plenary sessions to be broadcast live on the WEF’s website and prestigious news channels in the world.

So far, eight Presidents and Prime Ministers of countries have confirmed their attendance, making the 2018 edition a WEF ASEAN edition with the largest number of Presidents and PMs participating. In addition, nearly 40 ministerial level delegations have also confirmed their presence.

Around 800 delegates, who are the chiefs of world and regional leading corporations, have confirmed their participation, and the figure is expected to increase in the time ahead.

The opening plenary session of the WEF ASEAN 2018 will be co-chaired by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Founder and Executive Chairman of the WEF, with the presence of from 800 to 1,000 delegates.

On the occasion, the Viet Nam Business Summit will also be held under the theme “Viet Nam: Trusted Partner – Innovative Connection”, with more than 1,000 delegates in attendance. A forum, entitled “ASEAN 4.0 for all people”, is also scheduled, focusing on startup in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
