PM to chat with Northern workers

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labor to prepare for his dialogue with workers in the North following the two successful ones in the Central and Southern regions in 2016 and 2017.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets and chats with workers in central Viet Nam on April 22, 2017.

He made the request at the New Year visit to the Confederation in Ha Noi on February 22.

During the previous dialogues, the Government chief recalled that he was attentive to various proposals of workers relating to cultural and housing issues as well as kindergartens and canteens and some of their proposals have been realized.

PM Phuc tasked the Confederation to continue guaranteeing food and workplace safety and legitimate rights and interests of workers.

The Confederation must discuss on how to train workers in the face of the 4th Industrial Revolution during its upcoming Conference to help them adapt to the new context in which technological advances have created profound changes across the world.

As the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (known as TPP 11) has been signed by ministers of 11 participating countries, PM Phuc asked the Confederation to take initiative in improving workers’ skills.

He also hailed the concerted efforts by the Southern province of Dong Nai and the Confederation in ensuring salary for 1,800 workers whose foreign business owners fled from Viet Nam before the lunar New Year holiday.

PM Phuc took the occasion to convey best wishes to all workers and the Confederation’s staffs, saying they have made significant contributions to the overall achievements of the country in 2017.

Under the fresh plan approved by the PM in 2017, the trade unions will build more than 50,000 apartments, 50 kindergartens, 50 supermarkets, 50 medical stations, 50 cultural centers, and 50 legal assistance offices for workers, according to Bui Van Cuong, Chairman of the Confederation.
