The meeting was held within the framework of the PM’s visit to Singapore to attend the 33rd ASEAN Summit and related summits.

At the meeting, PM Phuc congratulated Sembcorp for its successful operation in Viet Nam, particularly VSIP, saying it has been contributing to boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The Vietnamese leader expected that the corporation will speed up VSIP projects in the Southwest of Viet Nam to take advantages of the region’s huge labor resources with more than 20 million people as well as consider opening a new VSIP in the Central Highlands which are full potentials of industrial plants such as coffee and rubber.

Consenting with proposals of the Vietnamese PM on expanding operation in Viet Nam, Mr. Neil McGregor said that the corporation is surveying some locations in Viet Nam to launch more VSIP, including ones in the Central Highlands and the central province of Quang Tri.

He asserted to propose measures to increase values of VSIP, heading to environmentally-friendly technology, adding that the corporation is enhancing investment promotion in Viet Nam in fields of energy and has worked with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade to realize these projects.

He supposed that the corporation’s successful operation in Viet Nam is thanks to huge support from the Vietnamese Government, ministries, agencies and localities.
