PM receives former US President Clinton

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung received former US President Bill Clinton in Ha Noi on July 18 during his trip to Viet Nam to promote the activities of the Clinton Foundation on HIV/AIDS care and treatment.

The foundation was established by the Clinton family with an aim to  take care and cure HIV carriers in the world. The foundation has mobilized over $40 million from donors to support Viet Nam from 2006.
 
PM Dung welcomed the guest and highly appreciated the humanitarian activities of the Clinton Foundation as well as Clinton personally, which had contributed to the Vietnamese Government’s efforts in preventing HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases.
 
He said that the Vietnamese Government would always support and create favorable conditions for the foundation to operate in Viet Nam.
 
The PM also thanked Clinton for his support during his post as the US President, during which many of his drastic decisions had helped normalize the bilateral ties.
 
He affirmed Viet Nam’s wish to develop bilateral ties strongly and really as comprehensive partners as agreed by the two countries’ leaders.
 
In response, Clinton said that the US always wants to befriend with Viet Nam as agreed by the two houses of the US.
 
Regarding the situation in the region, especially China’s actions in the East Sea, which have caused concerns and reactions from the international community, Clinton said that he and his wife, Hilary Clinton, always support the settlement of all disputes by peaceful measures based on international law.
 
He said that the Clinton Foundation will support Viet Nam in preventing and controlling HIV/AIDS, malaria and other communicable diseases and would be willing to cooperate with Vietnamese agencies in supplying and producing HIV/AIDS treatment medicines in Viet Nam.
