PM receives former European leaders

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on March 18 hosted separate receptions given to the UK’s former PM Tony Blair and former Italian PM Romano Prodi who are on their visits to Viet Nam.

Receiving Mr. Tony Blair, PM Dung highly appreciated the guest’s contributions to the promoted cooperation and strategic partnership between Viet Nam and the UK.

He confirmed that Viet Nam always places importance on enhancing multifaceted cooperation with the UK and the EU.

Showing his admiration to Viet Nam’s socio-economic achievements, Mr. Tony Blair emphasized that his office is closely working with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in supporting and boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The guest also pledged to spare no effort in strengthening cooperation between Viet Nam and the UK in particular and with the EU in general.

Earlier, in the morning, PM Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed former Italian PM Romano Prodi who is also the former President of the European Commission.

Briefing the guest about the flourishing strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Italy, PM Dung hoped that the guest will make more contributions to the development of relations between Viet Nam and Italy as well as the EU in all fields.

He underlined that Viet Nam is willingly to deepen its relations with European countries, including Italy, on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and development.

For his part, Mr. Romano Prodi expressed his pleasure at the well-developing relationship between Viet Nam and the EU.

He asserted that in the current situations of the world, it is essential for all countries to overcome differences to cooperate with others for peace, prosperity and development.

The guest confirmed that he will do his utmost to enhance cooperation between Viet Nam and Italy as well as the EU.
