The PM supposed that the Korean President’s visit to Viet Nam is meaningful as the two countries have yielded a lot of achievements over the past 25 years in the spirit of Strategic  Cooperative Partnership.

Congratulating the RoK on the successful hosting of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, the Vietnamese PM expressed his hope that the upcoming high-level talks between the RoK and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and between the DPRK and the U.S. will be held successfully, contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the Korean peninsula and the world.

Viet Nam attaches importance to the comprehensive and reliable cooperative relationship with the RoK, he asserted, adding that the nation is willing to uphold its bridging role in expanding ASEAN-RoK cooperation.

President Moon Jae-in hailed the developments in the two nations’ relations after establishing the Strategic Partnership, especially the two-way trade value up US$ 40 billion in 2017.

The two sides signed cooperation agreements on industrial and energy production, and organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the Viet Nam–Korean Institute of Science and Technology (V-KIST) on the occasion of the Korean President’s visit to Viet Nam.

Appraising the contributions of the RoK’s large corporations to Viet Nam’s development, PM Phuc suggested the two sides take measures to accelerate economics, trade and investment, striving to raise the two-way trade value to US$100 billion by 2020.

He proposed the RoK to tackle obstacles related to quarantine of Vietnamese agricultural products such as star-apple, dragon fruits, rambutan, longan, and lychees, and open its market for Vietnamese pork and chicken in 2018.

Viet Nam always fully implements its commitments under the Viet Nam–RoK Free Trade Agreement and facilitates the shipments of RoK agricultural products and pharmaceuticals to Viet Nam, he added.

The nation commits to creating favorable conditions for the RoK’s enterprises to expand their investments in Viet Nam, especially in high-tech fields of research and production of semi-conductors, electronics, supporting industry, renewable energy, organic agriculture, innovative startups, transport infrastructure projects, industrial parks, smart cities, and equitization of state-owned enterprises and commercial banks, the PM asserted.

Viet Nam expects to receive preferential credit packages from the RoK, and effectively implement the financial cooperation agreement worth US$12 billion to launch a number of projects on transport infrastructure, technology transfer, revising the agreement on avoidance of double taxation, and help Viet Nam build the e-government, he said.

The PM expressed his hope that the RoK Government will boost cooperation with Viet Nam in culture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges and allow increasing more flights and air routes from Viet Nam to RoK localities, simplify visa granting procedures for Vietnamese visitors, and provide more government scholarships to Vietnamese students.

He highly valued the RoK’s efforts to build Viet Nam Village in its Gyeongsangbuk province.

The RoK is willing to support and share its experience with VietNam in realizing its goals of modernization and industrialization by 2020, affirmed the RoK’s President, adding that the RoK Government will continue encouraging its enterprises to invest in Viet Nam.
