PM receives Microsoft CEO

VNGOP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng delivered a cordial reception in the morning of May 21 to Chief Executive Officer of the Microsoft Corporation Steve Ballmer in the guest's first working visit to Vietnam.

Mr. Steve Ballmer lauded Vietnam's information technology for strong development, proactive participation into the world market and protection of intellectual property. The Microsoft Corporation is boosting software technology in Vietnam through two-way cooperation between Vietnamese and foreign software enterprises.

Microsoft pledges to help Vietnam's IT and telecommunication sector become an essential factor for the country's economic development, said Mr. Steve Ballmer.

After informing the guest about socio-economic achievements in the recent time as well as the development of the Vietnam-US relationship, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng revealed that Vietnam is striving to maintain her GDP growth rate of 8% in the coming decade.

He stressed that Vietnam always focuses on developing education, training, science and technology,  especially IT and software, to bring into play the Vietnamese people's intelligence and creativity.

The PM asked Microsoft to further support Vietnam in training international-standard programmers.

In the morning of the same day, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, Minister of Posts and Telematics, leaders of the Government Office, ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture and Information, US Ambassador Michael W. Marine and CEO Steve Ballmer witnessed the signing ceremony of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership and the Contract on Microsoft Office Copyright between the Ministry of Posts and Telematics-administered units and Microsoft./.
