PM reaffirms close ties with Cambodia

VGP – Viet Nam always spares no efforts to promote the relations with Cambodia for mutual interests and for peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and ASEAN.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement while meeting with top Cambodian legislator Heng Samrin in Ha Noi on Monday.

The Government chief asked the Cambodian National Assembly to continue supporting the joint efforts made the both countries in land border demarcation and landmark planting in the sprit of friendship, sincerity, in accordance with the two sides’ laws and international practices in order to complete this work soon, thus contributing to the building of a peaceful, friendly, stable and long-lasting borderline.

He expected that the Cambodian Legislature will back the legal status of the Vietnamese community to help them integrate into the local society and contribute to the development of Cambodia.

PM Dung also asked the Cambodian National Assembly to continue its assistance for searching and repatriating remains of over 5,000 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers from Cambodia; and for economic connectivity between the two countries.

Regarding the burning of Vietnamese flag and illegal demonstration by Khmer  Kampuchea Krom extremists recently, PM Dung asked the National Assembly and Government of Cambodia to take proper measures to prevent the recurrence of the incidents in the future.

Mr. Heng Samrin affirmed that his visit to Viet Nam aims to consolidate and enhance the ties between the two Legislatures and the two countries as well.

He expressed his hope that Viet Nam will continue its support for the development of Cambodia.
