PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made that statement at Ha Noi 2018 Investment and Development Cooperation Conference on June 17 in Ha Noi.

Speaking at the event, the Government leader asked Ha Noi’s authorities to exploit land effectively and suitably with economic structure in the upcoming time as well as harmonious and balancing with long-term and short-term benefits.

Mr. Phuc took Cau Giay district as an example, which has emerged from a very poor locality into an urban area with industrial value exceeding VND43 trillion and State budget contribution of over VND7 trillion thanks to the effective planning scheme.

Highlighting the necessity of establishing a smart city, he demanded establishing a creative and transparent environment and modernizing the administrative management system to make breakthroughs in socio-economic development.

Thus, the capital city must realize suitable planning and connect Lang-Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park with the university and business community in Ha Noi and other key economic areas in the North.

Ha Noi is full potential of technology that prepares it to head to the digital economy actively, he said, requiring the city to take the lead in following the fourth industrial revolution.

The city should uphold its role as the center for training human resources in fields of science-technology, math and computing, he said.

He suggested all administrative and public transactions be launched online to reduce time and the number of people travelling on road, adding that the city must take the lead in the nation in applying information technology in public services.

Under the witness of the PM, the city granted investment certificates for 71 projects, worth more than US$17 billion, which helps the city rake first among cities and provinces nationwide in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

At the event, representatives of associations and businesses highly valued efforts of the city in improving the investment environment, expressing desires to pour more investment in the city.
