The meeting focuses on developing four pillars of the IT sector, namely IT human resources, IT industry, IT infrastructure and IT application as well as proposing measures to apply the technology at State agencies and in public services.

As Chairman of the Committee, PM Nguyen Tan Dung made it clear that the committee is tasked to consult the PM and the Government about mechanisms and policies to promote IT, especially its application for socio-economic development, competitiveness enhancement, labor productivity increase, among others.

The PM asked for continuing implementing   effectively the plan on “Making Viet Nam soon become a strong country in information technology and communications”.

He said developing and applying IT should be regarded as a new production method to accelerate socio-economic development and increase the effectiveness of State management.

He also required the establishment of e-Government, concentrating on setting up a national database system, a system monitoring State management and providing online public services.

PM Dung directed ministries, agencies and localities to boost the application of IT in giving instructions, monitoring and management as well.

The National Committee on IT was set up on January 15, 2014 based on the PM's Decision No. 109/QD-TTg.
