On behalf of the Vietnamese Government and people, PM Dung conveyed his best wishes to Ambassadors and Heads of Representative Offices of International Organizations on the new year of 2016.

The world is moving quickly with dominant trends including economic, trade and investment liberalization, integration, and cooperation. Marvellous scientific and technological achievements have opened up new opportunities for the mankind to live in peace, prosperity, and happiness, said PM Dung.

According to the PM, the year of 2015 marked a milestone in which Viet Nam fulfilled the policy of the 11th Party Congress and the 2011-2015 socio-economic development plan with outstanding achievements. The macro-economy was stable; inflation was put under control; GDP growth rate reached nearly 6.7% which was the record high over the last five years. The transformation of the growth model and the economic restructuring gained positive outcomes. The legal system was perfected in accordance with domestic circumstances and global development trends specially those on the investment and business environment and competitiveness.

Viet Nam actively accelerated international integration especially economic integration. So far, Viet Nam inked ten FTAs including two in 2015 and concluded negotiations of two new-generation FTAs with leading markets such as the Viet Nam-EU FTA and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP).

Joining hands for ASEAN of peace, stability, development, and sustainability

According to PM Dung, Viet Nam and other Southeast Asian nations gathered under the common house – the ASEAN Community which bases on three pillars namely politics-security, economy, and culture-society.

The ASEAN Community represented an indispensable natural development process of the region.

As a responsible member of the ASEAN Community, Viet Nam is determined to protect its legitimate sovereignty and benefits; persistently resolve disputes and disagreements via peaceful measures in accordance with international law, the United Nations Charter, the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea; oppose the use of violence and threats of violence, militarization, unilateral activities in the East Sea.

Viet Nam pledges to spare no effort to link hands with regional countries to contribute to peace and stability in the East Sea; calls on relevant sides to seriously implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and early pass a code of conduct in the East Sea (COC).

PM Dung stressed that in Viet Nam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, openness, diversification and multilateralization of external relations and active international integration, ASEAN represents a pillar – a strategic priority.

Viet Nam has seriously fulfilled its commitments and responsibility over the last 20 years.

In the coming time, Viet Nam would improve competence and mobilize resources, realize integration commitments and work with other countries for the successful ASEAN community.

The Government leader also hoped that heads of diplomatic corps would uphold their competence to support Viet Nam to build the ASEAN Community in a united and powerful manner, playing a central role in the region in favor of peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Moroccan Ambassador El Houcine Fardani on behalf of the diplomatic delegations congratulated the Vietnamese Government and people for their important achievements in socio-economic development and foreign diplomacy in 2015.

Ambassador also reaffirmed the determination to cement and deepen the good relations between Viet Nam and international organizations for peace and mutual benefits./.
