PM meets with Japanese top legislator

VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung met with visiting President of Japan’s House of Councilors Yamazaki Masaaki in Ha Noi on December 8.

The PM welcomed the guest and his entourage and spoke highly of the outcomes of the talks between the Japanese House of Councilors President and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, saying that the visit will contribute to promoting and the strategic partnership and effective cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies, contributing to nurturing the friendship between the two peoples.
 
PM Dung affirmed that the Vietnamese Government would spare no effort to join hands with Japan to foster bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields, as well as support close collaboration between the two legislative bodies.

He expressed his hope that both countries’ parliaments would support cooperation between the two governments for interests of each side, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The government leader wanted both countries to enhance cooperation in politics and diplomacy and at international forums while speeding up projects in agriculture, education, trade and investment.

Viet Nam expects the Japanese government and parliament to maintain the provision of official development assistance (ODA) at a high level for the country to develop infrastructure, increase the number of Vietnamese students and nurses in Japan and boost the Viet Nam-Japan University project for its operation in 2016.

President Yamazaki Masaaki expressed his sentiments towards the land and people of Viet Nam and valued strong development of the country.

He expressed his pleasure with the sound outcomes of the joint projects and confirmed to make more contributions to promoting the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Japan forward on a par with both sides’ potential and expectations.

At the meeting, the two leaders shared Viet Nam’ s stance on issues related to the East Sea, saying that ensuring peace, security, maritime and aviation freedom and safety in the East Sea is significant for all countries.

They stressed on the settlement of disputes through peaceful measures in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and the effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and an early adoption of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
