PM meets with Belarusian President

The host welcomed the European leader and expressed his pleasure with the outcomes of the talks between the President and his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang and meetings with other Vietnamese leaders, saying that the visit was a milestone contributing to elevating bilateral relations to a new height.

PM Dung expressed his gratitude to Belarus for its support to Viet Nam and affirmed that Viet Nam attaches importance to deepening relations with Belarus practically and effectively for mutual interests and development.

President Lukashenko congratulated Vietnamese people on their achievements and noted that potential of bilateral cooperation is huge thus both sides should collaborate more closely to realize agreements between high-level leaders of both countries, particularly those in economics, trade and investment.

The two leaders highly agreed on priotizing cooperation in politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, investment, tourism, education, training, military technology, science, technology and research.

They valued the signing of economic contracts worth US$350 million by the two countries’ businesses during the visit and the effective implementation of cooperation projects in manufacturing and assembling trucks and buses, saying that the projects’outcomes will help expand the cooperation in other fields.

The also agreed to push for the early ratification and implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union, in which Belarus is a member while elevating the Viet Nam-Belarus Intergovernmental Committee to the ministerial level and convene the first meeting of the new-level committee in Minsk early next year in order to identify specific cooperation programs and projects.

The leaders pledged to support members of the Eurasian Economic Union, including Belarus, to expand their relations with the ASEAN countries and access the market; shared the stance of Viet Nam, ASEAN member countries and the international community on ensuring and maintaining peace, stability, security, maritime and aviation safety and freedom in the East Sea, which is an important condition for cooperation and development in the region and the world.

On this occasion, the President invited PM Dung to pay an official visit to Belarus. The host accepted the invitation with pleasure and asked the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries to collaborate for preparations.
