PM meets U23 football team

Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Do Van Chien also attended the meeting.

The national team arrived in the Noi Bai International Airport at 1pm and it took hours for them to reach the Government Office as thousands of Vietnamese people flocked to the airports and streets to welcome our heroes.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Phuc said he waited for more than five hours but it was worth as the success of the national team is a great joy for the whole nation. This was the first time Vietnamese soccer team advanced to the AFC U23 Championship.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Government chief presented the First Class Labor Medal to the national team and the Third Class Labor Medal to coach Park Hang-seo, goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung and midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai.

PM Phuc and Deputy PM Dam also awarded the PM’s Certificate of Merit to members of the U23 team.

After the meeting, the team moved to the My Dinh National Stadium where they will meet with fans.

Earlier, the national team paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh.
